Retail Inventory Analyst
Our client is seeking a Retail Inventory Analyst to drive data-informed assortment strategies that balance consumer demand, financial performance, and inventory optimization. This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to develop seasonal and long-range plans, leverage advanced analytics to improve decision-making, and deliver actionable insights that support product and business objectives. The ideal candidate combines strong planning expertise with exceptional analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to influence partners through compelling, data-driven storytelling.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Retail Inventory Analyst Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain assortment plans, forecasts, and inventory strategies that align product opportunities with financial objectives.
- Utilize statistical forecasting, data analysis, and emerging planning methodologies to improve forecast accuracy and support strategic business decisions.
- Build seasonal and in-season plans that optimize sales, margin, inventory, and product productivity across the assortment lifecycle.
- Analyze business performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve assortment effectiveness and marketplace outcomes.
- Partner with merchandising, planning, finance, sales, and product teams to align assortment strategies with broader business goals.
- Present forecasts, financial plans, and business insights to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Monitor forecast performance and variance, developing corrective action plans to address gaps and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Support inventory and open-to-buy planning processes to ensure appropriate product flow and inventory investments.
- Evaluate consumer, product, and marketplace trends to inform assortment decisions and future planning strategies.
- Contribute to process improvements, best practices, and new analytical approaches that enhance planning capabilities and business performance.
Retail Inventory Analyst Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in assortment planning, merchandise planning, inventory planning, demand forecasting, or a related planning function.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial, product, and inventory planning principles.
- Experience leveraging statistical forecasting, analytics, and data-driven methodologies to support business planning decisions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, large datasets, forecasting models, pivot tables, and scenario analysis.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify trends, quantify risks, and solve complex business problems.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and communicate recommendations effectively through data-backed insights and presentations.
- Experience developing forecasts, assortment strategies, and inventory plans within a consumer products, retail, or apparel environment preferred.
- Knowledge of consumer behavior, marketplace dynamics, and product lifecycle planning is highly desirable.
- Previous experience supporting a global consumer brand environment is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and passion for continuous learning and business improvement.
Compensation: Up to $41.55/hr. (DOE)
