Sr. Retail Experience Designer
Our client is seeking a Sr. Retail Experience Designer to create immersive, consumer-focused retail environments that bring brand stories to life through innovative spatial design, fixtures, displays, and digital experiences. This role partners with cross-functional creative, architecture, and retail teams to develop scalable concepts from ideation through execution while balancing creative excellence, business objectives, timelines, and budgets. The ideal candidate is a strategic design leader with deep experience shaping retail environments, managing complex design initiatives, and translating bold creative vision into impactful physical experiences.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Sr. Retail Experience Designer Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative development and execution of innovative retail environments, fixtures, displays, and immersive consumer experiences from concept through final delivery.
  • Partner closely with creative leadership, architecture, storytelling, and cross-functional retail teams to ensure design solutions align with brand objectives and business strategies.
  • Guide multiple concurrent design projects while maintaining creative integrity, project schedules, budgets, and overall quality standards.
  • Develop compelling design concepts, presentation materials, sketches, renderings, and visual storytelling assets that effectively communicate creative direction to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure design concepts are both innovative and technically feasible for implementation.
  • Drive exploration of new materials, spatial design approaches, emerging technologies, and evolving retail trends to enhance consumer engagement.
  • Contribute strategic thinking that influences project direction, elevates design quality, and supports long-term retail innovation initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative studio environment by sharing industry insights, mentoring peers, and encouraging creative problem-solving across project teams.
  • Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while adapting to changing business needs and project requirements.
  • Travel occasionally to support project development, installations, or collaborative planning sessions as needed.

Sr. Retail Experience Designer Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in architectural, experiential, environmental, or brand design with a strong portfolio demonstrating innovative retail environments and consumer experiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Industrial Design, Environmental Design, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading complex design projects involving large budgets, multiple stakeholders, and high-profile retail initiatives.
  • Strong background designing retail environments, branded spaces, store concepts, or experiential programs within the retail industry.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, as well as Keynote.
  • Demonstrated expertise in concept development, sketching, spatial planning, material selection, presentation design, and environmental storytelling.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing deadlines, and successfully lead multiple projects in a fast-paced creative environment.
  • Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams including architecture, creative, marketing, digital, and external agency partners.
  • Experience with Nike or another leading global consumer brand is highly preferred but not required.
  • Experience with After Effects, Premiere Pro, Miro, Figma, SketchUp, Unreal Engine, or other visualization and collaboration tools is preferred.
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant retail, experiential, or environmental design work is required.

Compensation: Up to $66.90/hr. (DOE)
