Senior Technical Designer (Apparel)
Our client is seeking a Senior Technical Designer (Apparel) to join a collaborative product creation team focused on bringing premium lifestyle apparel from concept through factory-ready production. This individual will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure exceptional fit, construction quality, and manufacturability while balancing design intent, production requirements, and development timelines. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, and enjoys solving complex technical challenges.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Senior Technical Designer (Apparel) Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of apparel styles from initial concept through factory commercialization and production, ensuring fit, construction, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical packages, patterns, construction specifications, measurements, and factory documentation to support successful manufacturing.
  • Conduct fit sessions, evaluate prototypes and samples, document fit comments, and provide technical recommendations to drive product improvements.
  • Partner with design, product management, materials, manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional teams to resolve construction challenges while maintaining development timelines.
  • Review prototypes, track sample progress, identify manufacturability concerns, and communicate technical updates to ensure products are delivered on schedule.

Senior Technical Designer (Apparel) Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Textile Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of technical apparel design experience supporting factory production, including pattern making, garment construction, fit development, and commercialization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing patterns for lifestyle apparel using hardwoven fabrics such as denim, twill, jackets, fixed-waist garments, and similar workwear-inspired products.
  • Proven experience leading fit sessions, documenting technical fit comments, and creating production-ready technical specifications for factory partners.
  • Proficiency with technical design software such as PCX and CLO; experience with 3D apparel development tools is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of apparel construction, manufacturing processes, grading, materials, and quality standards.
  • Portfolio showcasing technical design work, including production patterns for jackets, pants, or comparable lifestyle apparel, is required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple product development timelines.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to receive constructive feedback, solve technical problems, and contribute positively within a cross-functional team.
  • Previous experience supporting lifestyle apparel brands or products is preferred; experience focused solely on athletic performance apparel is less applicable for this role.
