IT SOX Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced IT SOX Manager to lead and strengthen enterprise-wide compliance initiatives supporting internal controls over financial reporting. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor across the organization, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to assess risk, enhance control effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings deep IT audit expertise, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of quality and accountability.

This role is fully remote.

IT SOX Manager Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of IT SOX compliance activities, including walkthroughs, process documentation, risk assessments, and testing of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and IT Application Controls (ITACs).
• Coordinate and perform test of design and test of operating effectiveness procedures, ensuring thorough documentation of results, conclusions, and supporting evidence.
• Identify control deficiencies, evaluate root causes, and partner with stakeholders to develop, implement, and monitor effective remediation plans.
• Support ongoing SOX program enhancements through controls rationalization, optimization efforts, and system scoping activities.
• Collaborate with process owners, external auditors, and third-party providers to facilitate audits, align on requirements, and ensure timely completion of compliance activities.
• Proactively identify emerging technology and business risks that may impact internal controls and communicate recommendations to leadership.
• Prepare clear, detailed workpapers and reports that accurately reflect testing procedures, observations, and outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, maintaining quality standards, and operating within established timelines.

IT SOX Manager Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience in IT internal audit, IT external audit, SOX compliance, or a related assurance function within a public company or professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of IT SOX requirements and internal control frameworks, including COSO, COBIT, and NIST.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating internal controls over financial reporting and assessing technology-related risks.
• Ability to understand and evaluate complex business applications, system architectures, and access/security controls.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and process flow documentation tools.
• Experience within a high-growth technology or SaaS environment is highly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, and/or CISA are preferred, as is prior experience with a Big Four accounting firm or management consulting organization.
