Senior Java Full Stack Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer to help design and deliver next-generation applications that blend modern software engineering practices with emerging AI capabilities. This role is ideal for a technically strong developer who can build production-grade solutions across the full stack while leveraging large language models and intelligent automation technologies to solve complex business challenges. The successful candidate will bring deep Java expertise, strong architectural instincts, and hands-on experience integrating and orchestrating AI-driven solutions within enterprise environments.

This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in the Portland Metro Area.

Senior Java Full Stack Engineer Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern frontend technologies.
• Build scalable, production-ready solutions by transforming concepts and prototypes into maintainable software products.
• Develop and maintain responsive user interfaces utilizing Vue.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Design, implement, and support RESTful APIs, backend services, and system integrations.
• Lead the integration and orchestration of large language models (LLMs) and AI-enabled capabilities within business applications.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of intelligent workflows, agent-based solutions, and automation initiatives leveraging emerging AI technologies.
• Participate in application architecture discussions and modernization efforts to improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Implement automated testing practices to ensure software quality and long-term supportability.
• Support CI/CD processes, deployment automation, and cloud-native development practices.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and optimize application performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate within Agile teams to support sprint planning, estimation, technical design, and solution delivery.
• Partner effectively with both technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
• Mentor fellow engineers and promote development best practices across the team.

Senior Java Full Stack Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years of hands-on Java development.
• Demonstrated expertise developing enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience building modern frontend applications using Vue.js.
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Hands-on experience integrating, orchestrating, or implementing solutions utilizing large language models (LLMs) and AI technologies in production or near-production environments.
• Experience designing intelligent application workflows, AI-enabled automations, agent frameworks, or related orchestration patterns.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, service-oriented architecture principles, and system integrations.
• Solid foundation in object-oriented programming concepts, software design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Experience working with relational databases, SQL development, and data modeling concepts.
• Knowledge of ORM technologies such as Hibernate, JPA, or similar frameworks.
• Experience developing and deploying applications within AWS, Azure, or comparable cloud environments.
• Proficiency with Git-based source control and Agile software development methodologies.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and thrive in environments with evolving priorities.

Preferred:

• Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing LLM frameworks, prompt orchestration techniques, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agent-based architectures.
• Experience designing microservices and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployment strategies.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tools.
• Exposure to Node.js, Python, C#, or other backend technologies.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, or enterprise integration patterns.
• Previous consulting or client-facing software engineering experience.
• Experience identifying and resolving application performance bottlenecks and improving system scalability.
