Payroll Assistant
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Assistant to support a high-volume payroll function in a complex, fast-paced environment. This individual will play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining employee records, and supporting payroll operations while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, quick to learn new processes, and thrives in a role where precision and accountability are critical to success.
This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon.
Payroll Assistant Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end payroll processing activities, including employee data maintenance, payroll adjustments, terminations, and special payments.
- Perform payroll calculations, audits, and data reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation, including filing, archiving, and audit support activities.
- Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, and related transactions.
- Generate routine reports, identify data discrepancies, support testing efforts, and assist with payroll system updates and enhancements.
Payroll Assistant Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of payroll or related experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage complex payroll processes and manual audits.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new systems and processes, and work effectively with minimal guidance.
- Experience with payroll systems and timekeeping platforms preferred; ADP, union payroll, multi-state payroll, and CPP certification are all a plus.
Compensation: $26.29/hr.
