Director of Accounting
Our client is seeking a strategic and adaptable finance leader to oversee accounting operations and support financial and operational objectives within a growing organization. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership to enhance financial processes, improve reporting visibility, and support long-term operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and solutions-oriented professional who brings strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to navigate evolving priorities with confidence.
This role follows a hybrid work model in the Portland Metro Area.
Director of Accounting Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely reporting across a complex multi-entity environment.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes, including balance sheet management, and support executive-level financial analysis and decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and operational analysis initiatives across multiple departments.
- Partner cross-functionally with leadership teams to improve financial visibility, operational alignment, and reporting processes.
- Develop, mentor, and support accounting staff, providing leadership to a team of employees while fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.
- Review and enhance accounting procedures, internal controls, workflows, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Support ongoing operational initiatives, process improvements, and system enhancement efforts as needed.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, accrual-based accounting principles, company policies, and financial reporting requirements.
- Lead audit coordination, external stakeholder requests, and other financial reporting and compliance activities as needed.
Director of Accounting Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including experience leading teams and supporting operational initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles.
- Experience managing external audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting high-volume, multi-entity organizations with complex financial reporting, balance sheet management, and audit requirements.
- Experience leading and developing accounting teams, including direct management responsibility and oversight of core accounting functions such as Accounts Payable.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement principles.
- Experience working within complex or evolving business environments with cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with leadership teams and build strong working relationships across departments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a practical and collaborative approach.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, accounting software, and financial reporting tools.

Salary: $130K-$160K/year. (DOE)
