Trade Specialist
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Trade Specialist to support international trade compliance, customs operations, and trade optimization initiatives within a dynamic global environment. This individual will bring a strong understanding of customs regulations, trade agreements, and product classification while partnering across teams to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and identify opportunities for operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and capable of balancing strategic trade initiatives with day-to-day execution in a fast-paced setting.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Trade Specialist Responsibilities

  • Support free trade optimization initiatives by analyzing product, sourcing, and supply chain information to identify opportunities for duty savings and trade program utilization.
  • Interpret and apply Free Trade Agreement requirements and Rules of Origin to determine eligibility for preferential trade treatment.
  • Review, assign, and validate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and customs declaration data to ensure accurate and compliant import and export activity.
  • Maintain and audit trade-related product attributes, sourcing information, and system data to support trade accuracy and operational effectiveness.
  • Partner closely with supply chain, sourcing, product, technology, and global trade teams to align product information with customs and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external trade compliance audits by reviewing documentation, researching discrepancies, and helping drive issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers, suppliers, manufacturers, and other external partners to facilitate timely and accurate trade execution.
  • Track, analyze, and report on trade compliance metrics, product data trends, and opportunities for process improvement using Excel and other tools.
  • Recommend and support enhancements to trade compliance workflows, documentation standards, and operational procedures.
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of compliance accuracy.

Trade Specialist Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, supply chain operations, or a related function.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Free Trade Agreements and applying Rules of Origin requirements to determine trade program eligibility.
  • Proven experience classifying products using the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) and supporting customs declarations.
  • Working knowledge of trade preference programs, customs regulations, and international trade compliance practices.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage complex datasets.
  • Experience maintaining data integrity within trade, customs, or supply chain systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders across global operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working across international markets and diverse business environments; additional language skills are a plus.

Compensation: Up to $42.25/hr. (DOE)
