Lead Color Designer
Our client is seeking a highly creative and execution-focused Lead Color Designer to drive seasonal color direction across a performance-driven footwear portfolio. This role requires a strong blend of artistic vision and technical proficiency, with an emphasis on candidates who can quickly contribute within a fast-paced product environment. The ideal candidate brings direct experience in footwear, apparel, or accessories design, along with a portfolio that clearly demonstrates their creative process, CAD capabilities, and recent industry work.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Lead Color Designer Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and execution of seasonal color strategies across footwear product lines, ensuring alignment with broader design direction.
- Translate consumer insights, trend research, and brand direction into commercially relevant and visually compelling color palettes.
- Utilize CAD tools to develop detailed color applications and product visualizations that support design intent and production readiness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product management, and development teams to bring color concepts from ideation through final execution.
- Apply strong knowledge of color theory, materials, and construction to ensure accurate and innovative application across product types.
- Develop and present clear, compelling design narratives that communicate both inspiration and executional detail to stakeholders.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining a high standard of quality and meeting tight timelines.
Lead Color Designer Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in color design, with a strong preference for footwear, apparel, or accessories industry experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in CAD tools and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, for product visualization and presentation.
- A strong portfolio showcasing recent, relevant work and clearly illustrating design process, concept development, and final execution.
- Deep understanding of color theory and its application to physical products across a variety of materials and constructions.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional product environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design intent and influence stakeholders.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with 3D or AI-driven design tools (e.g., Vizcom) is a plus.
- Passion for sport, style, and product innovation, with awareness of current and emerging trends.
Compensation: Up to $46.67/hr. (DOE)
