Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack
Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack to lead the design and delivery of complex, cloud-based applications from initial requirements through production deployment and support. The ideal candidate is a highly independent engineer who combines strong full-stack development expertise with deep, hands-on AWS experience and the ability to translate ambiguous business needs into scalable technical solutions. This role requires someone comfortable making architectural decisions, collaborating directly with stakeholders, and providing technical leadership across engineering teams.

This role is fully remote.

Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of production applications, including technical design, front-end and back-end development, integration, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Architect and maintain cloud solutions in AWS, selecting appropriate services for compute, networking, storage, orchestration, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Build responsive, accessible, and scalable front-end applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and related modern technologies.
• Design and develop secure, high-performing REST APIs, microservices, event-driven components, and other application integrations.
• Own infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or similar technologies across development, staging, and production environments.
• Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines supporting testing, artifact management, deployment, and high-availability release strategies.
• Establish production monitoring and observability through structured logging, metrics, dashboards, distributed tracing, alerting, and incident troubleshooting.
• Integrate applications with data platforms, analytical pipelines, databases, and real-time data sources while supporting appropriate security and governance practices.
• Design and implement AI-enabled application capabilities, including LLM integrations, retrieval workflows, data preparation, validation, and appropriate fallback mechanisms.
• Partner directly with clients and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, evaluate technical trade-offs, define implementation plans, and proactively communicate delivery risks.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, architectural guidance, documentation, and mentorship of other engineers.
• Support technical discovery and solution planning by contributing estimates, architecture recommendations, implementation approaches, and technical documentation.

Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including senior-level ownership of full-stack applications delivered to production.
• Extensive hands-on AWS experience designing and operating production solutions, with demonstrated ability to evaluate services, make architectural decisions, and explain technical trade-offs.
• Strong experience with AWS technologies such as ECS or EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS or Aurora, S3, EventBridge, Step Functions, and CloudWatch.
• Advanced proficiency with TypeScript and JavaScript across front-end and back-end development, including React and Node.js or comparable technologies.
• Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining production infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
• Strong experience designing and implementing REST APIs with consideration for security, scalability, versioning, reliability, and performance.
• Experience owning CI/CD processes across multiple environments, including automated build, testing, deployment, and blue/green or canary release strategies.
• Hands-on experience implementing production observability, including logging, metrics, dashboards, distributed tracing, alerting, and troubleshooting within cloud environments.
• Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders to define requirements, communicate technical recommendations, and manage delivery expectations and risks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with Python, microservices, distributed systems, GraphQL, real-time applications, or event-driven architecture is preferred.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs, vector databases, embedding pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation, or other AI-enabled application technologies is preferred.
• Experience working in consulting, professional services, multi-client environments, or regulated industries is preferred.
• AWS certifications and experience optimizing cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost are preferred.
