Senior AI Product Manager
Our client is seeking a Senior AI Product Manager to lead the execution and continued evolution of artificial intelligence and machine learning products within a complex enterprise environment. This role requires proven product management experience with traditional AI and machine learning solutions, not solely generative AI tools or applications. The ideal candidate understands the full spectrum of AI technologies, can distinguish practical capabilities from emerging hype, and has experience guiding AI/ML products through their unique development, evaluation, and implementation lifecycles.

This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, or North Dakota.

Senior AI Product Manager Responsibilities

  • Drive execution of AI and machine learning product initiatives by translating strategic priorities and business needs into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and development priorities.
  • Lead product management activities for traditional AI/ML solutions as well as applicable generative AI capabilities, ensuring the appropriate technologies are applied to specific business problems.
  • Partner closely with data scientists, machine learning professionals, engineers, UX teams, and business stakeholders to guide AI/ML products from concept and experimentation through development, implementation, and ongoing optimization.
  • Manage and prioritize AI product roadmaps and backlogs while balancing business value, technical feasibility, dependencies, risks, and delivery expectations.
  • Define, track, analyze, and communicate AI/ML performance metrics using appropriate evaluation frameworks to measure product effectiveness and inform future enhancements.
  • Translate complex AI/ML concepts, technical capabilities, model limitations, and performance considerations into clear information for business and technical audiences.
  • Account for the unique characteristics of AI/ML product development, including experimentation, model performance, data dependencies, evaluation, iteration, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Gather stakeholder and user feedback throughout the product lifecycle and use performance data and business priorities to continuously improve AI solutions.
  • Maintain clear product documentation covering requirements, functionality, technical considerations, decisions, limitations, evaluation criteria, and measures of success.
  • Incorporate responsible AI principles, governance requirements, ethical considerations, and appropriate risk controls into product planning and delivery.
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning sessions, product discussions, presentations, backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and other Agile activities as appropriate.
  • Identify and manage product risks, technical dependencies, competing priorities, and delivery barriers while helping teams make informed tradeoffs.

Senior AI Product Manager Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, including proven AI product management experience within complex product environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing products involving traditional artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies; experience limited primarily to generative AI tools such as Copilot or conversational AI applications is not sufficient.
  • Strong understanding of traditional AI, machine learning, and generative AI concepts, including their underlying capabilities, practical applications, limitations, and appropriate use cases.
  • Experience with AI/ML-specific product development lifecycles and a strong understanding of how developing and evaluating AI/ML products differs from conventional software development.
  • Demonstrated experience defining, tracking, analyzing, and reporting AI/ML performance metrics aligned with evaluation frameworks and business objectives.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business needs into actionable AI/ML product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized development work.
  • Experience collaborating directly with data science, engineering, machine learning, UX, and business teams in the development and delivery of AI-powered products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including formal presentations, stakeholder communications, and facilitation of cross-functional planning sessions.
  • Strong product leadership, critical-thinking, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies, and timelines in a complex environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Jira and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI technologies and tools such as Microsoft Copilot or comparable platforms.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum product development environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI, AI governance, ethics, risk management, or related frameworks is preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred, particularly within complex or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with Smartsheet is preferred.
