IAM Security Architect
Our client is seeking an IAM Security Architect to provide strategic and technical leadership for enterprise identity and access management initiatives. This role is ideal for an experienced security architect who can translate complex business and security needs into modern identity solutions, balancing strong protection with a seamless user experience while influencing long-term architecture and technology direction.

This role is a hybrid model. Applicants must be located in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, or North Dakota.

IAM Security Architect Responsibilities

• Define and evolve enterprise IAM architecture, reference models, standards, and design patterns that support secure, scalable, and user-friendly identity experiences.
• Lead the design of modern authentication and authorization solutions, including adaptive multi-factor authentication, passwordless authentication, federation, privileged access management, and related identity capabilities.
• Establish technical direction for identity security initiatives by evaluating business requirements, emerging technologies, industry trends, and long-term organizational needs.
• Provide security architecture leadership across complex enterprise initiatives, guiding solution design, conducting architecture reviews, and ensuring alignment with security standards and governance practices.
• Partner with business, technology, security, and external stakeholders to translate organizational needs into effective identity strategies and technical solutions.
• Evaluate enterprise identity technologies and integrations, helping guide platform strategy while maintaining an architecture that is not dependent on a single vendor or product.
• Identify and resolve complex security and architecture challenges by coordinating technical resources and providing guidance throughout implementation.
• Promote continuous improvement across security architecture practices, processes, standards, and technology strategies to improve efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
• Communicate architecture strategies, recommendations, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• Stay current on identity security trends, emerging technologies, regulatory considerations, and industry practices while contributing thought leadership across the organization.

IAM Security Architect Qualifications

• 8+ years of IAM experience, with significant experience designing and architecting identity solutions in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise with modern identity and federation standards and technologies, including SAML, OpenID Connect (OIDC), WebAuthn, and related authentication protocols.
• Demonstrated experience with enterprise identity platforms, privileged access management solutions, adaptive MFA, passwordless authentication, and modern identity security practices.
• Proven information security architecture experience, including developing architecture patterns, evaluating technical solutions, and providing technical leadership across large-scale initiatives.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks and industry practices, including NIST Cybersecurity Framework, HITRUST, and ISO 27001.
• Experience translating complex business requirements into comprehensive technical solutions while balancing security, usability, scalability, and operational considerations.
• Strong technical leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to establish direction and collaborate effectively across architecture, engineering, security, business, and leadership teams.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate sophisticated security concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Experience within highly regulated or complex enterprise environments is preferred, along with familiarity with industry-specific security and compliance requirements.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools or technologies to improve professional productivity, analysis, or decision-making is highly desired.

Salary: $140K-$175K/year. (DOE)
