Senior Business Analyst
Our client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to lead high-impact initiatives focused on improving healthcare operations, optimizing utilization management processes, and advancing strategic technology solutions. This role is ideal for a seasoned analyst who thrives in complex environments, excels at translating business needs into actionable solutions, and enjoys collaborating across operational and technical teams to drive meaningful change. The ideal candidate brings deep experience within payer operations, strong utilization management knowledge, and the ability to influence initiatives spanning process improvement, system enhancements, and emerging automation capabilities.

This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, or Idaho.

Senior Business Analyst Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis efforts for complex, cross-functional initiatives supporting healthcare operations, utilization management processes, and enterprise technology objectives.
  • Partner with business leaders, operational stakeholders, and technical teams to gather requirements, facilitate discovery sessions, and define future-state solutions.
  • Analyze and document current-state utilization management workflows to identify opportunities for process optimization, operational efficiency, and improved member and provider experiences.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource on utilization management business processes, ensuring initiatives align with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with teams supporting utilization management applications and integrations to evaluate system capabilities, define enhancements, and support implementation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain business requirements, process maps, use cases, functional specifications, test plans, and other project documentation.
  • Conduct gap analyses and provide recommendations that align operational needs with technology solutions and strategic priorities.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and process changes through testing, validation activities, issue resolution, and end-user readiness efforts.
  • Analyze operational, financial, and performance data to develop insights, dashboards, and presentations that support leadership decision-making.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops involving stakeholders across multiple business areas, driving alignment and consensus among diverse teams.
  • Promote continuous improvement by applying business analysis best practices, process improvement methodologies, and operational excellence principles.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced analysts on stakeholder engagement, requirements management, and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to initiatives involving utilization management automation and emerging technologies, including evaluating opportunities to enhance efficiency through advanced capabilities and AI-enabled solutions.

Senior Business Analyst Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 or more years of experience in business analysis, systems implementation, process improvement, requirements management, testing, or related disciplines.
  • Required experience supporting health insurance utilization management business processes within a payer environment.
  • Required experience working with two or more applications supporting utilization management operations, such as Availity, ADT data feeds, CCA, Facets, MCG CWQI, MCG GMM, MCG Cite AutoAuth, or similar utilization management platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading analysis efforts for large-scale, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and business units.
  • Strong expertise in business process modeling, workflow analysis, requirements elicitation, use case development, and gap analysis methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of business analysis documentation techniques, including user stories, process maps, test cases, functional specifications, and requirements traceability.
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams to translate business requirements into scalable and effective solutions.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations, business cases, dashboards, and reports that support strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience supporting Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Strong analytical thinking, facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, navigate organizational complexity, and drive consensus across teams.
  • Previous experience supporting utilization management automation initiatives, AI-enabled workflows, or intelligent process optimization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Lean Six Sigma, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Experience with business capability modeling, strategic planning frameworks, or healthcare technology transformation initiatives is preferred.
