HR Business Systems Analyst
Our client is seeking an HR Business Systems Analyst to support and enhance enterprise HR technology, with a strong focus on Workday and the systems and data that enable key people processes. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and solutions-oriented professional who can translate business needs into effective system improvements, confidently partner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and independently drive initiatives from requirements through implementation.
This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, or North Dakota and be willing to work PST hours.
HR Business Systems Analyst Responsibilities
- Support the configuration, testing, data conversion, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of Workday modules, including HCM, Compensation, Payroll, Talent Management, Recruiting, and Reporting.
- Gather and translate business needs into detailed functional requirements, process models, system designs, and scalable HR technology solutions.
- Plan and execute user acceptance, regression, conversion, interface, and enhancement testing, documenting expected results, findings, and resolutions.
- Partner with HR, IT, and other stakeholders to evaluate system capabilities, identify downstream impacts, troubleshoot issues, and implement process or technology improvements.
- Analyze HR data and system outputs to ensure information is accurate, timely, secure, and aligned with business requirements.
- Develop queries, extracts, reports, dashboards, and other analytical solutions using SQL and applicable reporting tools.
- Identify opportunities to leverage system functionality and automation to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and reduce manual work.
- Create business cases, process documentation, contingency plans, procedures, training materials, test scripts, metrics, and technical or end-user documentation.
- Provide post-implementation support, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and guidance for HR systems and related processes.
- Lead small to mid-sized HR technology projects, coordinating priorities, stakeholders, deliverables, risks, and organizational impacts through completion.
HR Business Systems Analyst Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5–8 years of experience supporting business systems, including requirements analysis, process modeling, functional design, system implementation, and user acceptance testing.
- Hands-on experience supporting Workday or comparable enterprise HRIS platforms; experience across HCM, Payroll, Compensation, Recruiting, Talent, Benefits, Absence, and/or Reporting is highly desirable.
- Strong experience with system configuration, testing, data conversion, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation of system enhancements.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business, system, and data requirements and determine the broader impact of proposed changes.
- Experience developing reports, queries, extracts, dashboards, or data solutions; SQL experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and guide stakeholders through system capabilities, decisions, processes, and changes.
- Experience identifying and implementing system enhancements or automation opportunities that improve processes and reduce manual effort.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
- Experience leading small to mid-sized projects or system initiatives from requirements and planning through testing, implementation, and ongoing support.
