Social Media Community Manager
Our client is seeking a Social Media Community Manager to help shape how a leading consumer brand participates in online conversations across sport, style, and culture. This role will engage directly with digital communities, identify relevant cultural moments, and develop timely, compelling social copy that reflects a consistent brand voice. The ideal candidate is deeply immersed in global football and/or sportswear and sneaker culture, understands how communities communicate online, and knows how to engage authentically without making every interaction feel like marketing.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Social Media Community Manager Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day community engagement across major social platforms, actively identifying and participating in conversations relevant to the brand, its consumers, and key cultural moments.
- Write concise, creative, culturally relevant social copy while maintaining a recognizable and consistent brand voice across different audiences, platforms, and conversations.
- Stay highly current on global football, sport, sneaker culture, streetwear, fashion, entertainment, and other relevant cultural communities to identify opportunities for meaningful engagement.
- Monitor comments, conversations, emerging trends, and community sentiment to determine where and how the brand should participate.
- Serve as a steward of the brand’s social presence, ensuring responses and interactions remain appropriate to the brand’s identity, tone, and standards.
- Support social activity surrounding campaigns, product moments, sporting events, and ongoing community engagement initiatives.
- Identify compelling athlete, creator, fan, and community content that may present opportunities for engagement, amplification, or further storytelling.
- Develop an understanding of the language, humor, behaviors, and nuances of specific online communities and adapt communication appropriately without appearing forced or overly promotional.
- Partner with social, creative, marketing, communications, media, and other cross-functional teams to coordinate community engagement with broader initiatives.
- Contribute cultural observations and community insights that can inform social strategy, content development, and future marketing opportunities.
- Navigate internal review and approval processes while maintaining the speed and responsiveness required for social media.
- Build productive relationships with stakeholders, communicate recommendations effectively, and help move social concepts from idea through approval and execution.
- Evaluate conversations and engagement patterns to identify emerging themes, consumer behaviors, and cultural signals.
- Maintain awareness of platform-specific behaviors, community expectations, engagement practices, and content trends across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Threads, and other relevant channels.
Social Media Community Manager Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in social media management, community management, digital marketing, or a closely related field.
- Deep knowledge of global football/soccer and its culture and communities and/or sportswear, sneaker, streetwear, and broader style culture is strongly preferred.
- Strong creative copywriting skills with the ability to write naturally, quickly, and appropriately for different social channels and audiences.
- Demonstrated experience representing a recognizable consumer-facing brand and maintaining an established voice and identity through social engagement.
- Highly digitally fluent and immersed in online culture, with an understanding of how to participate credibly in niche communities and fast-moving conversations.
- Strong social listening instincts and the ability to proactively uncover relevant conversations rather than relying solely on direct mentions or inbound engagement.
- Genuine interest in sports and the cultural communities surrounding sportswear, fashion, music, gaming, art, design, entertainment, or similar areas.
- Strong understanding of social media engagement mechanics, community norms, content amplification, and platform-specific best practices.
- Ability to recognize strong social content and understand what resonates across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Threads.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where conversations, priorities, and cultural moments can change quickly.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to collaborate across teams, manage feedback, build trust, and navigate approval processes.
- Proactive and creative mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute ideas without waiting for detailed direction.
- Strong communication, analytical, and synthesis skills with the ability to recognize patterns and translate cultural observations into actionable insights.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and training.
- A portfolio or work samples demonstrating social media, community engagement, copywriting, or culturally relevant brand work is strongly preferred.
- Experience within sports, sportswear, footwear, fashion, music, entertainment, gaming, or other culture-driven consumer brands is a plus.
- Recent experience working with a major global athletic or consumer brand is a plus.
- Familiarity with tools such as Airtable, Figma, and presentation software is beneficial.
