Case Manager – Absence Management
Our client is seeking a Case Manager – Absence Management to support employees throughout the leave of absence, workers’ compensation, disability, and workplace accommodation process. This individual will serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders by ensuring a positive, compliant, and well-coordinated leave experience while partnering with internal stakeholders and third-party administrators. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to manage confidential information in a fast-paced environment.
This is a remote role available to those residing within a 2-hour commute to Boston, Massachusetts.
Case Manager – Absence Management Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of employee leave of absence, workers’ compensation, disability, and accommodation cases while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, third-party administrators, and cross-functional partners throughout the leave lifecycle, providing timely guidance and support.
- Process leave requests, verify eligibility, maintain accurate case documentation, prepare required correspondence, and update HR and timekeeping systems.
- Coordinate with payroll, benefits, safety, legal, healthcare providers, and external vendors to facilitate leave administration, wage replacement, return-to-work planning, and workplace accommodations.
- Monitor workers’ compensation cases by gathering documentation, supporting injured employees, tracking claims, conducting audits, and assisting with claim reviews and reporting.
- Maintain accurate leave and absence records, generate reports, identify trends, and support ongoing process improvements and compliance initiatives.
- Educate employees and managers on leave programs, workers’ compensation procedures, time entry requirements, and return-to-work expectations.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact leave administration while adjusting case plans to meet changing employee needs.
- Maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive employee information and responding to inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
- Support additional absence management activities and provide occasional schedule flexibility, including evenings or weekends, as business needs require.
Case Manager – Absence Management Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience supporting leave of absence, workers’ compensation, disability, accommodations, or employee case management.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal and state leave regulations and employment compliance requirements.
- Experience coordinating with third-party administrators, payroll, HR, benefits, and other cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Proficiency with HRIS, timekeeping, and case management systems, along with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to educate and support employees and leaders.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and customer service skills with the ability to navigate sensitive situations professionally.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and support a dynamic employee services environment.
Compensation: $30+/hr. (DOE)
