Software Code Review Consultant (C++)
Our client is seeking an experienced Software Code Review Consultant (C++) to support a confidential technology engagement involving the analysis of complex software systems. This unique consulting opportunity is ideal for a senior-level software professional who enjoys evaluating source code, identifying technical patterns, and collaborating with subject matter experts on high-profile, time-sensitive projects. The work requires exceptional analytical ability, sound technical judgment, and the highest level of professionalism and discretion.

This role requires approximately 4–5 consecutive days on-site in New York City, New York followed by flexible remote consulting work.

Software Code Review Consultant (C++) Responsibilities

• Analyze complex C++ source code and supporting technical documentation to evaluate software functionality, architecture, algorithms, and implementation approaches.
• Compare multiple software systems to identify meaningful similarities and differences in functionality, logic, workflows, and design patterns.
• Assess software behavior beyond coding style, recognizing underlying implementation concepts and distinguishing common development practices from potentially unique proprietary solutions.
• Navigate large, unfamiliar codebases independently while producing accurate technical observations within aggressive project timelines.
• Collaborate closely with technical experts and project stakeholders to discuss findings, validate observations, and support technical analyses.
• Communicate complex software concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Prepare clear, organized documentation that supports technical conclusions and project deliverables.
• Participate in an initial on-site source code review in a secure New York facility for approximately 4–5 consecutive days, followed by flexible remote analysis and documentation work.
• Adhere to strict confidentiality requirements, secure handling procedures, and all project protocols involving sensitive proprietary information.

Software Code Review Consultant (C++) Qualifications

• Expert or principal-level experience developing software with C++, or equivalent deep hands-on expertise, even if C++ has not been your most recent primary language.
• Extensive professional software development experience with the ability to quickly understand complex, unfamiliar codebases.
• Demonstrated expertise reviewing source code and evaluating software architecture, algorithms, and implementation patterns.
• Strong analytical and pattern recognition skills with the ability to identify functional similarities across multiple software systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and professionally.
• Proven ability to perform effectively under firm project deadlines and adapt quickly as new information becomes available.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail when working with confidential information.
• Experience with software architecture, systems engineering, or large-scale software design is preferred.
• Previous exposure to code provenance analysis, software lineage, intellectual property matters, litigation support, forensic software analysis, or consulting engagements is beneficial but not required.
