Communications Coordinator
Our client is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support brand storytelling and communications initiatives for a leading organization within the running industry. This role is ideal for a communications professional with experience in sports or athletic brands who enjoys building media relationships, creating compelling content, and supporting high-profile events. The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, adaptable, and passionate about delivering impactful communications across a fast-paced environment.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon with occasional domestic travel.
Communications Coordinator Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and edit communications materials, including press releases, media resources, talking points, and other public relations content.
- Support communications strategies and campaigns that promote brand initiatives within the running category.
- Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, agency partners, and internal stakeholders while serving as a resource for communications-related requests.
- Coordinate communications support for events, including media activities, interviews, press conferences, and on-site brand activations.
- Organize and manage multiple communications projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop communications plans and contribute ideas for storytelling opportunities.
- Research media outlets, industry trends, and audience opportunities to help inform communications efforts.
- Assist with budget tracking, invoice processing, reporting, and coordination with finance partners.
- Provide communications support for weekend and travel-based events as needed, maintaining flexibility to support key brand initiatives.
- Participate in team planning sessions and contribute to the successful execution of communications programs.
Communications Coordinator Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Professional communications experience within the sports industry, ideally supporting running-related brands, products, or initiatives.
- Experience supporting communications within the sports industry, with running industry experience strongly preferred.
- A portfolio or writing sample demonstrating previous communications work, such as press releases or similar public relations materials, is required.
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality press releases and other communications materials; a writing sample is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional editing and proofreading abilities.
- Experience coordinating events, media activities, or public relations initiatives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility to travel and support evening or weekend events as business needs require.
- Previous experience with a public relations agency, event agency, or a global consumer brand is preferred.
- Prior experience supporting a major athletic or consumer brand is highly desirable to enable a quick transition into the role.
- Passion for running and a strong understanding of the running community is preferred.
Compensation: Up to $38.03/hr. (DOE)
