Senior Java Software Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing scalable cloud-based software solutions that support complex business operations and connected technologies. This individual will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities, helping guide architectural decisions, mentor team members, and drive the development of modern, event-driven applications in a collaborative Agile environment.

This role is a hybrid model in Westminster, Colorado.

Senior Java Software Engineer Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend applications, APIs, and cloud-based services.
• Architect and implement microservices and event-driven solutions that support high-volume data processing and system integrations.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on software architecture, development standards, and best practices.
• Develop, document, and enhance RESTful APIs and service integrations across distributed systems.
• Build and support cloud-native applications leveraging modern AWS services and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams, and stakeholders to evaluate requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, and performance issues across production environments.
• Support automated testing efforts, including unit, integration, and system-level validation.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and innovation.

Senior Java Software Engineer Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience developing enterprise software applications, backend services, APIs, and SaaS platforms.
• Strong proficiency with Java and the Spring Framework, including experience with Maven and/or Gradle.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications within AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including architecture guidance, mentoring, and influencing engineering best practices.
• Strong understanding of RESTful services, API design, and system integration patterns.
• Experience with serverless technologies, DevSecOps practices, and modern software delivery methodologies.
• Familiarity with Agile development environments and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with technologies such as OpenAPI, Linux, Python, relational and NoSQL databases, streaming technologies, or IoT protocols is preferred.

Compensation: $80/hr. (DOE)
