Accounting Manager (Non-Profit)
Our non-profit client is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations for a collaborative, community-focused organization. This role requires a hands-on leader who combines strong non-profit accounting expertise with exceptional people skills, supporting both financial stewardship and staff training and development. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly accurate, and passionate about using their accounting experience to drive meaningful organizational impact and collaboration.
This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon.
Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting processes.
- Manage and develop a small team of accounting staff members.
- Lead audit preparation, compliance reporting, tax support activities, and financial documentation requests.
- Monitor cash flow, banking activity, fixed assets, restricted funds, grants, and revenue recognition processes.
- Support budgeting, fiscal analysis, process improvements, and financial controls while partnering with internal stakeholders, in collaboration with the CFO.
Accounting Manager Qualifications
- 5+ years of financial accounting experience, including nonprofit accounting and GAAP compliance; Accounting or related degree preferred, not required.
- Experience overseeing accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and grant reporting.
- Proficiency with Financial Edge and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to coach, motivate and hold teams accountable.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated professional with a commitment to mission-driven work and serving highly diverse and vibrant communities.
Salary: $90K-$95K/year. (DOE)
