Job Id: 72463
Procurement Director
Our client is seeking a Procurement Director to lead a high-impact procurement function supporting a fast-paced manufacturing environment where supply continuity, operational execution, and strategic sourcing are critical to business success. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a procurement professional who can balance strategic vendor management with day-to-day execution, inspire a team, and confidently partner across operations, quality, finance, and product teams to keep materials flowing and production on track.
This role is on-site in McMinnville, Oregon.
Procurement Director Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end procurement strategy across raw materials, packaging, indirect spend, and site operational supplies to support uninterrupted production and business growth.
- Oversee and develop a team of procurement professionals, setting clear expectations, driving accountability, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Manage supplier sourcing, negotiations, contract execution, and long-term vendor partnerships to optimize cost, quality, service levels, and supply reliability.
- Serve as a key cross-functional business partner to operations, quality, finance, R&D, and commercial teams to align procurement activities with production demands and customer commitments.
- Own purchasing execution within ERP/procurement systems, ensuring accurate planning, inventory alignment, lead time management, and timely replenishment of critical materials.
- Monitor market conditions, supplier performance, and cost trends to proactively mitigate supply chain risks and identify savings opportunities.
- Establish and improve procurement processes, systems, and policies that enhance efficiency, visibility, and scalability across the organization.
- Support supplier qualification efforts, including alternative sourcing strategies, certification requirements, and onboarding of new materials or vendors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cost optimization, supplier consolidation, process efficiency, and procurement analytics.
- Maintain compliance with applicable sourcing standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality expectations.
Procurement Director Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing procurement operations supporting organizations with approximately $250M+ in annual revenue.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing procurement teams, including buyers and senior purchasing professionals.
- Hands-on experience managing procurement execution—not solely strategic oversight—including purchasing operations, replenishment planning, and supplier issue resolution.
- Strong experience negotiating supplier contracts, managing vendor performance, and maintaining supply continuity in fast-moving operational environments.
- Experience working within ERP-based procurement environments; SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally while maintaining accountability for procurement outcomes.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with experience managing cost controls, forecasting, and supplier performance metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field; advanced education or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Food, ingredients, consumer packaged goods, or regulated manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required.
Salary: Up to $175K/year + Bonus. (DOE)
