Senior Programmer Analyst
Our client is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst to join a high-performing technology and analytics team focused on designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise business solutions in a complex, data-driven environment. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical professional who thrives at the intersection of software development, business analysis, and strategic problem-solving, with the ability to lead initiatives, mentor others, and deliver scalable solutions that support critical business operations.
This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, or Idaho.
Senior Programmer Analyst Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, enhancement, and support of complex business applications, reporting solutions, and data integrations that support enterprise-wide operational and strategic initiatives.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications, solution designs, and functional system enhancements using approved development tools, ETL platforms, SQL, and reporting technologies.
- Architect, develop, test, debug, and deploy scalable solutions while ensuring code quality, performance, maintainability, and alignment with established development standards.
- Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements, clarify objectives, resolve competing priorities, and deliver practical technology solutions.
- Design and oversee testing strategies, including validation and acceptance testing, to ensure accurate implementation of business and technical requirements.
- Build and maintain robust reporting frameworks, dashboards, data models, and analytical solutions that support decision-making across multiple business functions.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for complex projects with significant operational, financial, or organizational impact.
- Provide leadership presence in internal meetings, offering technical guidance, strategic recommendations, and informed decision support.
- Proactively identify system issues, performance concerns, process inefficiencies, and enhancement opportunities, escalating risks and recommending solutions as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, including system logic, code changes, design specifications, test plans, and implementation details.
- Mentor junior team members through peer reviews, technical coaching, troubleshooting support, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to project planning, execution, prioritization, and cross-functional coordination across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices to continuously improve development approaches and technical capabilities.
Senior Programmer Analyst Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in software development, programming analysis, business systems analysis, data engineering, business intelligence, or related technical roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, Operations Research, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Advanced expertise in SQL development, relational databases, ETL processes, data transformation, and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with tools such as SSRS, SAS, MicroStrategy, Talend, DataStage, SSIS, Toad, PGAdmin, or similar enterprise data and reporting platforms.
- Demonstrated experience designing scalable technical solutions, systems architecture, and complex application or reporting environments.
- Proven ability to independently manage high-complexity technical initiatives with minimal oversight.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities, with experience evaluating business needs and translating them into technical solutions.
- Experience with full software development lifecycle activities, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
- Demonstrated project leadership experience managing multiple simultaneous priorities, deliverables, and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and stakeholder presentations.
- Experience mentoring technical team members and contributing to collaborative development practices such as peer reviews.
- Familiarity with client-server architectures, business process improvement methodologies, and enterprise systems integration.
- Experience within regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, or similarly complex enterprise environments is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to light application development using tools such as Visual Studio or similar development frameworks is a plus.
