Project Accounting Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Accounting Manager to lead project accounting operations in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. This individual will play a key role in driving financial accuracy, improving processes, and supporting complex projects from initiation through completion while partnering with leaders across the organization. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day operational execution.

This role is on-site in Houston, Texas.

Project Accounting Manager Responsibilities

• Lead project accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and continuous process improvements.
• Manage project setup, cost tracking, revenue recognition, invoicing, forecasting, and month-end accrual activities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support project financial performance, contract reviews, and change management initiatives.
• Oversee project accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial processes to improve efficiency and data integrity.
• Develop, mentor, and lead project accounting staff while providing guidance and training on financial best practices.

Project Accounting Manager Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 8+ years of project accounting experience, including 4+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, SOX compliance, and US GAAP.
• Experience with Oracle ERP systems, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and a proven ability to improve financial processes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with experience collaborating across multiple business functions.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or PMP are preferred, along with eligibility to work under applicable U.S. Department of Energy regulations.

Salary: $150K-$181K/year. (DOE)
