Buying Assistant
Our client is seeking a Buying Assistant to support a fast-paced retail merchandising team focused on delivering consumer-driven product assortments and business results. This role is ideal for an analytical, trend-conscious merchandising professional who enjoys working cross-functionally, leveraging data to support buying decisions, and contributing to the success of a high-performing retail business. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about footwear, apparel, and evolving consumer trends.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Buying Assistant Responsibilities

• Support the execution of seasonal and in-season buying strategies by analyzing sales performance, inventory trends, and consumer demand.
• Partner with merchandising, planning, allocation, and cross-functional teams to help optimize product assortments and drive business performance.
• Utilize business reporting and historical data to identify opportunities and support informed merchandising decisions.
• Assist with assortment planning, buy reviews, and ongoing product management to maintain a balanced and profitable product portfolio.
• Develop expertise in merchandising systems, processes, and retail programs while contributing to continuous business improvements.

Buying Assistant Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field is highly preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in footwear, apparel, or consumer product buying, merchandising, retail planning, or a related retail environment.
• Strong understanding of retail merchandising principles and key performance metrics, including sell-through, inventory turns, average selling price (ASP), units per transaction (UPT), and related profitability measures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current footwear, apparel, and consumer product trends with a passion for delivering products that resonate with today’s marketplace.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, evolving retail environment.
• Adaptable, team-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Willingness to travel occasionally as business needs require.

Compensation: $20/hr.
