Accounting Assistant (Part-Time)
Our client is seeking an Accounting Assistant who thrives in a hands-on, detail-driven environment and takes pride in keeping things accurate and organized. This is a part-time opportunity for a dependable, collaborative professional who communicates clearly, handles deadlines with confidence, and enjoys being the steady hand behind a busy team's day-to-day operations. If you bring integrity and a sharp eye for numbers, you will make an immediate impact.

This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon working around 20-24 hours per week.

Accounting Assistant Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices, verify account coding, and reconcile purchase orders against invoices.
  • Support project accounting by setting up projects, tracking field expenses, and assisting with monthly billing and closeouts.
  • Review employee timesheets for accuracy, assist with payroll entry and processing, and summarize PTO accruals each cycle.
  • Maintain invoice logs, vehicle and expense records, and master lists with precision.
  • Keep filing systems and project documentation organized while supporting archiving and the Accounting Manager's additional needs.

Accounting Assistant Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, with a working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong math skills, Excel proficiency including formulas, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience with accounting software, ideally Deltek or Ajera, and prior professional services invoicing preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong problem-solving and prioritization skills under deadlines.
  • A high degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality, along with strong organization and teamwork.

Salary: $30-$40/hr. (DOE)
