VP of Finance and Operations
Our client is seeking a hands-on and collaborative VP of Finance and Operations to provide financial leadership while helping strengthen the systems and processes that support a mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with a practical, improvement-oriented mindset and is comfortable moving between strategic decision-making, detailed financial work, and cross-functional operational needs.

This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon.

VP of Finance and Operations Responsibilities

• Oversee month end close processes ensuring timely completion.
• Review accounting transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare/analyze financial statements and handle annual budget preparations.
• Collaborate with other departments to manage endowment funds and handle special tuition arrangements.
• Monitor departmental spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Assist payroll service provider in processing payroll.
• Lead continuous accounting process and facility improvements.

VP of Finance and Operations Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting and operational experience.
• Exposure to non-profit or similar industry a plus.
• Tech-savvy with financial systems/reporting software and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Salary: $100K-$150K/year. (DOE)
