CNC Lathe Setup Machinist
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist who can independently set up, prove out, troubleshoot, and run tight-tolerance parts on our DN Solutions/Doosan Puma 2600 and Lynx 2100 turning centers. This role supports prototype and small-batch production and requires strong ownership of setups, quality, and production efficiency.

This role is on-site in Wilsonville, Oregon working day shift from Monday-Friday.

CNC Lathe Setup Machinist Responsibilities

• Set up, prove out, and operate CNC turning centers, including Puma 2600 and Lynx 2100 machines.
• Set tooling, work offsets, tool geometry and wear offsets; adjust speeds, feeds, and programs as needed.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, setup instructions, and G-code.
• Troubleshoot dimensional, finish, tooling, and machining issues; make sound process adjustments.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other precision tools.
• Produce parts to tight tolerances, including ±0.0002 in. where required, and meet cosmetic and quality standards.
• Manage prototype and small-batch jobs, document setups and inspection results, and communicate job status.
• Work with machinists, programmers, and quality personnel to improve processes and reduce downtime.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area and follow applicable AS9100 quality procedures.

CNC Lathe Setup Machinist Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on CNC lathe setup and machining experience; setup experience is essential, not operation alone.
• Ability to independently set up, troubleshoot, and produce conforming parts.
• Strong blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation, and precision measurement skills.
• Demonstrated experience working to tight tolerances and making accurate tool-offset adjustments.
• Comfortable with prototype and low-volume work, changing priorities, and personal accountability for quality.

Preferred:

• DN Solutions/Doosan Puma or Lynx turning centers and Fanuc controls.
• Live tooling, sub-spindles, Y-axis turning, and multi-axis mill-turn setups.
• G-code editing and CAM programming; aerospace or defense manufacturing and AS9100 environments.
