Retail Demand Planner
Our client is seeking a Retail Demand Planner to support forecasting, marketplace planning, and inventory strategy for a dynamic consumer product portfolio. This role will use data and business insights to evaluate demand, monitor product performance, and help guide planning decisions while partnering closely with merchandising, product, analytics, and other cross-functional teams.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Retail Demand Planner Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts and marketplace plans across footwear, apparel, equipment, and related product categories.
- Analyze sales, demand, inventory, and marketplace performance to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and potential adjustments to current plans.
- Monitor product and franchise health by evaluating inventory productivity, forecast performance, product flow, and key planning metrics.
- Translate complex planning and performance data into clear insights and recommendations that help inform business decisions.
- Manage and communicate changes in demand, purchase positions, forecast variances, and inventory needs with key stakeholders.
- Partner cross-functionally with merchandising, product, analytics, and planning teams to align forecasts with broader marketplace strategies.
- Support assortment, product flow, allocation, and inventory planning decisions designed to maximize sales while minimizing excess inventory.
- Track inventory and delivery performance against established targets and recommend actions when performance falls outside expectations.
- Maintain accurate planning information and effectively utilize planning tools, reporting systems, and related processes.
- Contribute to process improvements that strengthen forecasting accuracy, inventory management, and overall planning effectiveness.
Retail Demand Planner Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in demand planning, marketplace planning, supply chain planning, sales planning, retail planning, or a closely related field.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect sales, inventory, demand, and marketplace data to broader business objectives.
- Solid understanding of supply chain fundamentals, demand forecasting, inventory management, and retail planning concepts.
- Working knowledge of retail math and the ability to interpret key sales, inventory, and productivity metrics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience analyzing and organizing planning data.
- Familiarity with Tableau or similar business intelligence and data visualization tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop actionable insights from multiple data sources.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across merchandising, product, analytics, and other business functions.
- Self-directed and adaptable approach with the ability to prioritize effectively and operate successfully in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Experience within retail, buying, sales planning, footwear, apparel, sporting goods, or other consumer product environments is highly desirable.
- Interest in sports and consumer marketplace trends is a plus.
Compensation: Up to $41.55/hr. (DOE)
