Strategic Sourcing Manager II
Our client is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager II to lead complex sourcing initiatives, negotiate high-value supplier agreements, and build strategic partnerships that support organizational goals. This role is ideal for a collaborative procurement professional who excels at balancing business objectives, risk management, supplier performance, and cost optimization while influencing stakeholders across a dynamic enterprise environment.
This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, or Idaho and will work PST hours.
Strategic Sourcing Manager II Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for complex categories including technology, professional services, marketing, healthcare services, and other enterprise-wide spend areas.
- Lead competitive sourcing events, contract negotiations, and supplier selection processes to achieve favorable commercial terms, cost savings, and long-term value.
- Build trusted partnerships with internal stakeholders to understand business objectives, provide procurement guidance, and deliver strategic sourcing solutions.
- Negotiate, draft, and manage complex agreements, including master service agreements, statements of work, letters of authorization, and related contract documentation.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships by monitoring performance, contract compliance, service quality, innovation opportunities, and total cost of ownership.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, market conditions, and industry trends to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate operational, financial, and contractual risks.
- Lead supplier business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen supplier performance and organizational value.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, governance standards, and established approval processes.
- Partner with business leaders to identify contract risks, communicate supplier obligations, and recommend effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Utilize procurement technologies and contract lifecycle management tools to administer sourcing events, contracts, approvals, and supplier documentation.
- Promote supplier diversity initiatives and support organizational objectives related to inclusive sourcing practices.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to procurement team members while helping drive process improvements and operational excellence.
Strategic Sourcing Manager II Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 10+ years of procurement or supply chain experience, including at least 4 years focused on strategic sourcing for complex spend categories.
- Demonstrated expertise negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing enterprise supplier relationships.
- Experience developing and executing sourcing strategies, conducting RFP/RFI processes, and leading contract negotiations from initiation through execution.
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices, category management, supplier lifecycle management, contract administration, and total cost of ownership principles.
- Experience supporting technology, professional services, healthcare, or other complex enterprise procurement categories is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of contingent workforce procurement, co-employment considerations, and associated contractual risk management is preferred.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, lead change initiatives, and communicate effectively with senior leadership and executive audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, market research, and risk assessment skills with the ability to make informed business recommendations.
- Experience with procurement platforms, contract lifecycle management systems, eSourcing tools, PeopleSoft, or similar enterprise procurement technologies is preferred.
- Professional procurement or supply chain certification and program management experience are considered a plus.
- Excellent organizational, presentation, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
