Security Analyst
Our client is seeking a Security Analyst to play a key role in protecting and strengthening the organization’s cybersecurity posture across a complex Microsoft-based environment. This individual will be responsible for monitoring security operations, responding to threats, managing identity and access controls, and supporting compliance initiatives while partnering closely with infrastructure and IT teams. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and comfortable balancing day-to-day security operations with ongoing improvement efforts in a dynamic, growing organization.
This role is a hybrid model in Vancouver, Washington.
Security Analyst Responsibilities
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security events, threats, and incidents across cloud, SaaS, endpoint, network, and on-premises environments.
- Lead security monitoring and alert triage efforts, tuning security tools and processes to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives.
- Support the implementation and administration of identity and access management solutions, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), and Okta integrations.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, track remediation efforts, and partner with infrastructure teams to strengthen system security and hardening standards.
- Manage and optimize security technologies including SIEM, EDR/XDR, email security, firewalls, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and related tools.
- Investigate phishing attempts, malware activity, account compromises, ransomware threats, and other cybersecurity incidents while documenting findings and corrective actions.
- Assist with access reviews, role-based access controls, privileged account management, and ongoing identity governance activities.
- Support compliance, privacy, and audit initiatives by gathering evidence, maintaining documentation, and helping implement security controls aligned with industry frameworks.
- Collaborate with IT teams to improve security automation, logging, monitoring, and incident response capabilities.
- Contribute to security awareness initiatives, policy development, and best practices that promote a strong security culture throughout the organization.
Security Analyst Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on cybersecurity, security operations, SOC, or information security experience.
- Experience supporting Microsoft-based environments, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure, and related security technologies.
- Hands-on experience implementing or supporting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), and identity management platforms such as Okta.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts including threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, identity security, and access controls.
- Experience working with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, email security, IDS/IPS, firewalls, VPNs, endpoint management, vulnerability scanners, and data protection tools.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, and common attack vectors.
- Familiarity with compliance, privacy, and security frameworks such as GDPR, NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar standards.
- Experience using PowerShell, Python, or other scripting tools for automation, reporting, or security analysis is preferred.
- Security certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CISSP, SSCP, GSEC, or similar credentials are preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to explain technical risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-motivated professional capable of managing multiple priorities and driving security initiatives with minimal supervision.
