Technical Designer
Our client is seeking a Technical Designer to support the development and execution of innovative apparel products from concept through production. This role will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure fit, construction, and product specifications align with design intent, performance expectations, and development timelines. The ideal candidate brings strong technical apparel knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced product creation environment.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Technical Designer Responsibilities
- Support the technical development process for apparel styles from initial concept through commercialization.
- Assist with fit sessions by preparing garments, documenting notes, and communicating updates to cross-functional partners.
- Interpret and execute design intent while maintaining construction standards and product integrity.
- Update sketches, technical specifications, and product documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with design, product management, materials, and manufacturing teams to support fit and development goals.
- Help manage prototype tracking, sample reviews, and product updates to ensure timely delivery against milestones.
- Identify and communicate fit and construction issues with clear written and verbal feedback.
- Support the creation and maintenance of tech packs, construction details, and product specifications.
- Stay informed on market trends, consumer expectations, and emerging technologies within the apparel industry.
- Participate in ongoing learning opportunities related to fit, patternmaking, and technical product development.
Technical Designer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Textile Science, or a related field strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in technical design or a similar apparel product creation role.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit development, patternmaking, and apparel manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting fittings, updating technical sketches, and documenting fit comments and construction revisions.
- Ability to interpret design intent and translate concepts into commercially viable products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office programs.
- Familiarity with CAD pattern software, Optitex, CLO 3D, Browzwear, or similar digital product creation tools is highly desired.
- CLO 3D certification is a plus but not required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter mentality with the flexibility to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Patience, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Compensation: Up to $46.67/hr. (DOE)
