Lead of Marketplace Strategy
Our client is seeking a Lead of Marketplace Strategy to drive high-level marketplace planning, channel strategy, and cross-functional business alignment across a global consumer brand environment. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong consulting or corporate strategy background who can bring structure, analytical rigor, and executive-level communication to complex business initiatives. The ideal candidate will be experienced in translating broad organizational goals into actionable marketplace frameworks that support long-term growth, operational clarity, and consumer impact.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon. Fully remote applicants may be considered if they meet all qualifications.
Lead of Marketplace Strategy Responsibilities
- Lead the development of integrated marketplace and channel strategies across wholesale, owned retail, digital, and partner ecosystems.
- Build strategic frameworks, operating models, and planning tools that support scalable execution across global and regional teams.
- Translate executive business priorities into actionable marketplace plans that balance brand, consumer, and commercial objectives.
- Partner cross-functionally with merchandising, planning, marketing, digital, retail, finance, and regional stakeholders to align strategy with execution.
- Establish clear channel roles, assortment segmentation strategies, and marketplace guardrails to improve consistency and reduce overlap.
- Drive structured strategic planning initiatives, including long-range planning, business reviews, and organizational alignment efforts.
- Facilitate executive-level discussions, influence decision-making, and navigate competing priorities across highly matrixed teams.
- Analyze marketplace trends, consumer insights, channel performance, and competitive activity to identify strategic opportunities and risks.
- Define and monitor KPIs tied to marketplace productivity, consumer engagement, financial performance, and brand health.
- Support change management and adoption of new strategic processes, tools, and business operating models across the organization.
Lead of Marketplace Strategy Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, marketplace strategy, retail strategy, business planning, or a related field.
- Prior experience within a large corporate environment or top-tier consulting firm strongly preferred; Big 4 consulting experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of multi-channel retail, wholesale, digital commerce, and partner distribution models.
- Proven ability to develop and operationalize strategic frameworks within complex, global organizations.
- Exceptional structured thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear recommendations.
- Experience influencing senior leadership and driving alignment across cross-functional and regional stakeholder groups.
- Strong executive communication, presentation, and storytelling skills with experience presenting to leadership audiences.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing initiatives, and drive progress in fast-paced environments.
- Experience developing business cases, strategic roadmaps, planning processes, or transformation initiatives.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build trust, navigate organizational dynamics, and influence without direct authority.
Compensation: Up to $69.72/hr. (DOE)
