Senior Cost Accountant
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join a collaborative and high-performing finance team supporting a complex, operationally driven business. This highly visible role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys partnering with cross-functional leaders, analyzing business performance, and using financial insights to drive operational improvements. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where business partnership and continuous improvement are valued.

This role is on-site in the Greater Portland, Oregon Metro.

Senior Cost Accountant Responsibilities

  • Analyze operating costs, profitability, and financial performance to support strategic business decisions.
  • Manage cost accounting activities related to inventory, maintenance, and operational expenses while ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and other cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve business performance.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and management reporting.
  • Monitor inventory activity, cost trends, and operational performance metrics to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Develop and enhance costing methodologies, financial controls, and reporting processes that support organizational objectives.
  • Assist with financial analysis related to capital assets, operational initiatives, and long-range planning.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives across accounting and finance.

Senior Cost Accountant Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years of cost accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within an ERP system.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with operational leaders to support financial planning and business performance.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial services, transportation, construction, or other asset-intensive industries is preferred.
  • CPA and/or CMA designation is a plus.

Salary: $90K–$115K/year + Bonus. (DOE)
