Software Quality Engineer 3 (NQA-1)
Our client is seeking an experienced Software Quality Engineer to support the development, evaluation, and enhancement of software quality documentation within a highly regulated engineering environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with deep knowledge of NQA-1 quality standards, exceptional technical writing abilities, and experience developing and validating quality procedures that support compliant software development processes.
This role is fully remote.
Software Quality Engineer Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing software quality processes, procedures, and documentation for compliance with applicable NQA-1 quality standards, including multiple revision levels.
- Develop, update, and maintain software plans, procedures, work instructions, and related documentation to support regulatory compliance.
- Write, review, and test quality procedures to ensure they are accurate, effective, and aligned with established quality requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering and business teams to provide guidance on software quality requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to strengthen software quality processes and documentation.
- Prepare clear, organized technical documentation in accordance with applicable quality and engineering standards.
- Assist with additional quality engineering and documentation activities as needed.
Software Quality Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred; equivalent directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting the development and/or implementation of nuclear quality assurance programs.
- Hands-on experience writing and testing procedures for ASME NQA-1 quality standards is required.
- Experience creating and maintaining documentation in accordance with ASME NQA-1, IEEE 7-4.3.2, and applicable U.S. nuclear regulatory guidance for software quality.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and compliant documentation.
- Excellent organizational, project coordination, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working across technical teams.
- Experience supporting software development under a formal quality assurance program is preferred.
- Commercial nuclear industry experience and familiarity with ASME BPVC Section III programs are preferred.
- Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 requirements.
