Senior Software Engineer – AI Developer Tooling & Enablement
Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in building and scaling internal AI-powered developer tooling used across a large, complex engineering organization. This individual will combine hands-on development with platform ownership, helping shape the strategy, governance, and evolution of modern developer experience tools. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, AI innovation, and enterprise platform management, partnering cross-functionally to deliver secure, scalable, and high-impact solutions.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Senior Software Engineer Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical lead for internal developer tooling platforms, providing direction, administration, and ongoing optimization.
  • Own and evolve enterprise-scale tooling ecosystems, including source control platforms and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Design and implement scalable solutions that enable secure, efficient adoption of emerging AI capabilities across engineering teams.
  • Drive proof-of-concept initiatives and translate experimental AI tooling into production-ready platforms.
  • Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and governance for developer tooling and platform usage.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including security, product, and engineering teams to align on priorities and ensure compliance.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks to support provisioning, access control, license management, and reporting.
  • Contribute directly to software development efforts, including backend services, integrations, and internal tooling.
  • Develop dashboards and insights to track usage, performance, and cost optimization opportunities.
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party tools and vendor capabilities, providing recommendations for adoption and improvement.
  • Support audit and compliance efforts through automation and documentation of platform controls.
  • Provide technical guidance on developer workflows, CI/CD practices, and overall engineering productivity improvements.

Senior Software Engineer Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Strong expertise in managing and scaling source control platforms (e.g., GitHub) in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with modern programming languages, with Python preferred.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and emerging AI technologies in engineering workflows.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and maintain automation solutions where out-of-the-box integrations are limited.
  • Experience with platform engineering, developer experience (DevEx), or internal tooling ecosystems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in environments with security, compliance, or audit requirements.
  • Exposure to containerization, orchestration, or modern infrastructure tooling is a plus.
  • Familiarity with identity management, access controls, or developer portal frameworks is preferred.
  • Experience contributing to or working with open-source or inner-source initiatives is a plus.

Compensation: Up to $61.33/hr. (DOE)
