Production Manager
Our client is seeking a proactive and organized Production Manager to oversee residential installation projects from post-sale handoff through final completion. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the installation process, coordinating internal teams, managing project timelines, and ensuring a smooth, high-quality experience from planning through final payment. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, and can confidently balance office-based coordination with occasional on-site project visits.
This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon.
Production Manager Responsibilities
- Manage residential installation projects from sales handoff through project completion, coordinating schedules, resources, and communication to ensure successful delivery.
- Serve as the primary customer contact throughout the installation process, proactively providing updates, resolving concerns, and maintaining a positive client experience.
- Conduct pre-installation site visits to identify potential challenges, verify project scope, and coordinate solutions before work begins.
- Partner with field teams, scheduling, purchasing, and other internal departments to ensure labor, materials, and documentation are aligned with project timelines.
- Monitor project progress, manage scope changes, and ensure all required project records, punch lists, inspections, and closeout documentation are completed accurately.
- Review completed projects with customers, address outstanding items, and coordinate a smooth transition to the accounting team for final invoicing and payment.
- Support scheduling efforts by helping maintain installation calendars and assisting with schedule adjustments as business needs evolve.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying workflow enhancements, supporting the development of standard operating procedures, and sharing operational feedback.
- Assist with onboarding and mentoring new team members while promoting consistent project management practices across the organization.
- Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer service throughout every phase of each project.
Production Manager Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in project management, production management, construction operations, or a related role within residential construction, HVAC, home services, remodeling, or similar industries.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously while balancing changing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience coordinating field crews, subcontractors, materials, and project schedules to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Strong customer service, communication, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to build trust and effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
- Solid understanding of residential construction processes, installation workflows, and project coordination best practices.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, follow-through, and independent problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with project management software, CRM systems, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and other business technology tools.
- Comfortable working primarily in an office environment while conducting occasional on-site visits, including construction sites, crawl spaces, or similar residential work areas.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Forklift certification, or the ability to obtain certification if required.
- Experience supporting HVAC, heat pump, weatherization, remodeling, or residential installation projects is highly preferred.
