Media Relations Manager
Our client is seeking a Media Relations Manager to support high-visibility communications initiatives and brand experiences within the Los Angeles market. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and solutions-oriented communications professional who understands the intersection of sports, culture, media, and creators and can bring strong organization and relationship-building skills to a fast-moving environment.
This role is on-site in Los Angeles, California with travel as needed.
Media Relations Manager Responsibilities
- Execute media relations and communications programs supporting key brand, product, sports, and lifestyle initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media, creators, agency partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate end-to-end logistics for media events, product launches, previews, community activations, and athlete-focused experiences.
- Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, logistics, deliverables, and stakeholder needs remain on track.
- Support product gifting and media outreach programs, including coordination, tracking, and follow-through with key contacts.
- Partner with cross-functional communications teams and external agencies to deliver cohesive and well-executed programs.
- Help host media and creator experiences while providing a high level of service and representing the brand professionally.
- Travel as needed to support events, activations, and other communications initiatives.
Media Relations Manager Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, events, marketing, or a related field; 5–7 years preferred.
- Must be based in Los Angeles, California, with strong familiarity with the city’s sports, cultural, media, and creator communities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting media relations, events, product launches, creator programs, and other brand communications initiatives.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate numerous priorities, stakeholders, and logistical details simultaneously.
- Proven ability to develop productive relationships with media contacts, creators, agencies, and cross-functional business partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Genuine interest in sports, consumer products, brand storytelling, and athlete- or community-focused communications.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, navigate ambiguity, and adjust quickly as priorities evolve.
- Self-motivated, personable, collaborative, and solutions-oriented with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience working with communications or public relations agencies and established knowledge of the Los Angeles media market is preferred.
- Previous experience within the athletic, sportswear, consumer lifestyle, or related industry is preferred.
- Proficiency with Keynote and Excel.
Compensation: Up to $47.89/hr. (DOE)
