IT Infrastructure Administrator 3
Our client is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Administrator 3 to join a collaborative technology team supporting a large, community-focused organization. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining critical infrastructure systems while helping modernize technology environments and reduce technical debt. The ideal candidate is a mid-career infrastructure professional with strong cybersecurity expertise, a proactive mindset, and a genuine interest in supporting organizations that serve the public. Success in this position requires strong technical knowledge, adaptability, and a positive, service-oriented approach.
This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon.
IT Infrastructure Administrator 3 Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of secure infrastructure solutions across enterprise environments.
- Partner with technical teams to plan and deploy new systems, services, and technology platforms that support organizational goals.
- Drive infrastructure modernization initiatives, including identifying and decommissioning legacy systems, applications, and servers.
- Implement and maintain security controls that protect networks, endpoints, systems, and data assets.
- Participate in cybersecurity incident response activities, investigations, remediation efforts, and continuous improvement planning.
- Evaluate and address infrastructure vulnerabilities, technical debt, and operational risks through strategic remediation initiatives.
- Support network and security technologies including firewalls, endpoint protection platforms, identity services, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
- Ensure compliance with established security standards, traffic management requirements, and data protection practices.
- Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, system diagrams, operational procedures, and support materials.
- Collaborate with vendors, internal stakeholders, and technology teams to resolve complex technical issues and improve system reliability.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance during infrastructure projects, upgrades, and security initiatives.
- Contribute to long-term technology planning and infrastructure roadmap discussions.
IT Infrastructure Administrator 3 Qualifications
- Several years of hands-on experience administering and securing enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles including network security, host security, endpoint protection, access controls, and threat mitigation.
- Experience implementing and managing security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint detection and response (EDR/XDR), and related security platforms.
- Demonstrated experience supporting incident response processes and security remediation efforts.
- Understanding of network security concepts including port-based security, traffic monitoring, transit security, and compliance controls.
- Experience securing data storage systems, enterprise applications, and third-party endpoints.
- Ability to evaluate infrastructure risks and implement practical solutions that improve security and operational efficiency.
- Experience working with technologies such as Google Workspace, Cisco networking solutions, Palo Alto security platforms, or similar enterprise tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to work independently on complex initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
- Positive, adaptable, and customer-focused approach with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated interest in supporting mission-driven organizations, public services, education, or community-focused initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree is welcomed but not required; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
