HR Manager
Our downtown Portland client is looking for an experienced HR Manager who brings equal parts people smarts, good judgment, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being a trusted resource for employees and leaders, takes ownership, and knows how to navigate the gray areas that come with a creative, collaborative workplace. The ideal candidate is approachable, adaptable, and comfortable wearing a lot of hats. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the employee experience, make HR processes better, and pitch in wherever your expertise can make a difference. If you’re someone who believes HR should support great people and great work, rather than simply enforce rules, this could be a great fit.
This role is fully on-site in downtown Portland, Oregon, with a generous parking stipend.
HR Manager Responsibilities
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee records, benefits, leave administration, performance management, development, and offboarding.
- Advise employees and managers on HR policies, employee relations, performance concerns, workplace matters, investigations, corrective actions, and separations.
- Oversee HR programs, policies, and compliance activities related to compensation, benefits, leave, employment regulations, and other workforce matters.
- Lead recruiting activities and coordinate relationships with benefits, retirement, legal, immigration, and other external HR partners.
- Analyze workforce trends, maintain HR data and records, reconcile benefits information, improve HR processes, and provide additional operational support as needed.
HR Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
- 5–8+ years of progressive HR generalist or HR management experience, ideally with broad ownership of day-to-day HR functions.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and applicable employment laws and regulations, including Oregon employment requirements.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to independently manage competing priorities, sensitive matters, and time-critical responsibilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with BambooHR or a similar HRIS is preferred.
Salary: $80K-$120K/year + Bonus. (DOE)
Benefits
Benefits are available to eligible full-time employees and include coverage for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long term disability, and matching 401k.
