Job Id: 73633
Controller
Our client is seeking a Controller who is hands-on, self-directed, and energized by turning a backlog into a clean slate. This person thrives in a lean, fast-moving environment, takes full ownership without needing direction, and works as comfortably in the details as they do at the leadership level. If you are a dependable problem solver who communicates clearly and gets results under pressure, this is an opportunity to make an immediate impact.
This role is on-site in Tualatin, Oregon.
Controller Responsibilities
- Take ownership of approximately six months of outstanding financial reporting and bring it current.
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, resolve discrepancies, and prepare adjusting journal entries.
- Prepare accurate monthly balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules in QuickBooks.
- Partner with the accounting team and Director of Finance to resolve open issues and deliver timely reporting.
- Identify gaps in the month-end close process and recommend improvements to prevent future delays.
Controller Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or comparable hands-on leadership.
- Strong general ledger, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation skills, with solid GAAP knowledge.
- Hands-on QuickBooks experience and a proven ability to independently resolve complex accounting discrepancies.
- Experience managing month-end close and a willingness to do detailed work rather than simply delegate.
Preferred:
- Prior interim Controller or accounting cleanup project experience.
- Experience in small to midsize organizations with lean accounting teams.
- Familiarity with inventory accounting, payroll, and sales and use tax reporting.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA is a plus.
Compensation: $55-$65/hr. (DOE)
