Claims & Benefits Specialist (Remote)
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Claims & Benefits Specialist to support the administration of disability claims in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, enjoys investigative work, and can balance accuracy with compassionate communication. The position offers flexibility and an opportunity to build experience within the insurance and benefits space.

This role is fully remote.

Claims & Benefits Specialist (Remote) Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate disability claims by gathering, analyzing, and verifying medical, eligibility, and policy information to determine benefit eligibility.
  • Make timely and accurate benefit determinations for low-complexity, short-duration claims and communicate decisions clearly to stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain claim records, including setting up new files, tracking documentation, and updating claim status throughout the lifecycle.
  • Proactively follow up on missing or incomplete information, ensuring all required documentation is obtained and compliant with internal policies.
  • Provide responsive customer support via phone and email, addressing inquiries from claimants, policyholders, and internal partners.
  • Manage assigned claims from initial intake through closure, maintaining appropriate reserves and documentation standards.
  • Support ongoing administrative processes, including reporting, recordkeeping, and database maintenance for claims operations.

Claims & Benefits Specialist (Remote) Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in claims processing, insurance, or a related customer service or administrative role.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze information and apply policy guidelines accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing workloads.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused and empathetic approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and familiarity with document management tools such as Adobe.
  • Ability to learn and navigate claims systems and apply relevant regulations (e.g., ERISA or similar compliance frameworks).
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable asking questions to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.

Compensation: $16-$19/hr. (DOE)
