Apparel Technical Designer
Our client is seeking an Apparel Technical Designer to support the development of high-performance athletic apparel from concept through production. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure exceptional fit, construction quality, and product execution while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced product creation environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent collaboration, organization, and communication skills.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Apparel Technical Designer Responsibilities

  • Lead technical development activities for assigned apparel styles, ensuring fit, construction, and manufacturability from concept through production.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed technical packages, product specifications, prototype documentation, and construction standards.
  • Conduct and support garment fit sessions, evaluate fit and construction, and recommend pattern or construction revisions as needed.
  • Collaborate with design, product development, materials, manufacturing partners, and cross-functional teams to achieve product quality, timeline, and performance objectives.
  • Partner with vendors and manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges and improve product consistency and production readiness.
  • Manage prototype tracking and development milestones while maintaining accurate technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Interpret design concepts and provide technical solutions that preserve design intent while supporting manufacturability and quality standards.

Apparel Technical Designer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Textile Science, or a related field preferred. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical design experience within the apparel industry.
  • Strong understanding of pattern development, garment construction, grading, fit evaluation, materials, and apparel manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience leading fit sessions and creating comprehensive technical packages.
  • Proficiency with CLO and Adobe Illustrator; experience with Optitex, PCX, or Miro is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret design intent and develop practical technical solutions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with strong attention to detail and experience working across cross-functional product creation teams.
  • Previous experience supporting performance or athletic apparel programs is preferred, with prior experience supporting a major global athletic brand considered a plus.

Compensation: Up to $48/hr. (DOE)
