Benefits Administrator
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Benefits Administrator to provide day-to-day support for employee benefit programs and serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees and retirees. The ideal candidate brings strong benefits administration experience, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information, detailed records, and competing priorities with accuracy and discretion.

This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon.

Benefits Administrator Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary resource for employee and retiree benefits questions, providing timely and accurate support by phone and email.
  • Administer benefit enrollments, qualifying life event changes, dependent updates, and new hire benefit elections.
  • Support annual open enrollment activities, including employee communications, enrollment processing, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate benefit information within HR systems and coordinate updates with insurance carriers, benefit providers, and third-party administrators.
  • Review and reconcile benefit eligibility, payroll deductions, carrier billing, and related records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with COBRA administration and required employee or participant communications.
  • Support FSA and HSA administration, including reviewing and reconciling payroll-related files and benefit data.
  • Maintain organized benefits documentation, reports, spreadsheets, and employee records while protecting confidential information.
  • Provide administrative support for workplace accommodation requests, including documentation and status tracking.
  • Assist with benefits-related projects, reporting, process improvements, and other administrative needs as assigned.

Benefits Administrator Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience supporting employee benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of health and welfare plans, benefit eligibility, enrollment processes, billing, and employee records administration.
  • Experience auditing or reconciling benefits data, payroll deductions, invoices, or related benefit records.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to clearly assist employees with benefit-related questions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive employee information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience working with HRIS or benefits administration systems; SAP experience is preferred.
