Systems Analyst
Our client is seeking a Systems Analyst to support a critical technology modernization initiative involving legacy application support, data migration, and transition to a new cloud-based platform. The ideal candidate brings deep IBM i expertise, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently with business and technical stakeholders to ensure data integrity and continuity throughout the transition.

This role is fully remote. Applicants must be located in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, or North Dakota.

Systems Analyst Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain legacy IBM i (AS/400/iSeries) applications while contributing to the transition of data and workloads to a modern cloud platform.
  • Perform data extraction, validation, transformation, and migration activities, ensuring information is accurately structured and transferred to the target environment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot custom applications using RPG, RPGLE, CL, DB2 for i, Query/400, and related legacy reporting technologies.
  • Manage and support batch processing, job scheduling, system commands, security administration, and other IBM i operational functions.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand migration requirements, resolve data issues, and facilitate effective knowledge transfer.
  • Support audit, compliance, data retention, and historical data retrieval requirements throughout the system transition.
  • Analyze legacy application logic, data structures, and dependencies to identify risks and support successful migration planning.
  • Document system processes, application knowledge, data structures, and operational procedures to preserve critical institutional knowledge.

Systems Analyst Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience supporting IBM i environments, including AS/400 and iSeries platforms.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with RPG, RPGLE, CL, DB2 for i, Query/400, and legacy reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting custom applications within an IBM i environment.
  • Experience with data extraction, validation, transformation, or migration initiatives involving legacy and modern platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of batch processing, job scheduling, IBM i system commands, and security administration.
  • Experience supporting audit requests, data retention requirements, and historical data retrieval.
  • Ability to analyze complex data structures and application dependencies while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical work.
  • Self-directed and adaptable, with the ability to support existing systems while contributing effectively to a large-scale technology transition.
