Financial Controls Specialist
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Controls Specialist who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments and enjoys improving processes while supporting complex compliance initiatives. This individual will bring strong analytical thinking, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced in internal controls and audit practices within regulated environments.

This role is fully remote.

Financial Controls Specialist Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and ongoing execution of enterprise financial controls and compliance initiatives.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, risk assessments, control matrices, and related compliance deliverables.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify control gaps, strengthen internal controls, and support remediation efforts.
• Coordinate project plans, milestones, action items, and status reporting to ensure timely completion of key initiatives.
• Evaluate control documentation and supporting evidence to promote accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.

Financial Controls Specialist Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience in internal controls, internal or external audit, or regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of SOX, JSOX, internal control frameworks, financial processes, and IT general controls.
• Proven project management, organizational, and technical documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with preferred professional certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, or CRMA) and JSOX experience considered a plus.
