Claim and Benefits Processor
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Claim and Benefits Processor to support the timely and accurate administration of life insurance claims. This individual will review claim documentation, evaluate benefit eligibility, communicate with customers and internal partners, and ensure payments are processed in accordance with policy guidelines and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is analytical, customer-focused, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This role is fully remote.
Claim and Benefits Processor Responsibilities
- Review, investigate, and evaluate life insurance claim documentation to determine benefit eligibility in accordance with policy provisions and established guidelines.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, or outstanding issues and obtain additional documentation needed to complete claim reviews within required timeframes.
- Make independent claim determinations, communicate claim outcomes, and process accurate benefit payments for new and pending claims.
- Assess payment eligibility for beneficiaries and develop an appropriate claims management approach while complying with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for beneficiaries, policyholders, and internal business partners by responding to claim inquiries and resolving issues through professional written and verbal communication.
- Collaborate with internal departments to support client implementation, ongoing service, and renewal activities related to life benefits.
- Maintain organized claim files, effectively prioritize workloads, and adjust to changing business needs while meeting department expectations.
- Participate in special projects and other departmental initiatives as assigned.
Claim and Benefits Processor Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two years of relevant professional experience, preferably within financial services or a related industry.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret documentation, identify discrepancies, and apply established guidelines when making claim decisions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data entry, typing, and general computer applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated empathy, adaptability, and willingness to learn new processes while receiving ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Basic mathematical skills and solid reading comprehension abilities.
- Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to meeting or exceeding customer and team expectations.
