Technical Bag Designer
Our client is seeking a Technical Bag Designer to support the development and execution of innovative bag and carry solutions from concept through production. This role is ideal for a highly technical product creator who excels at translating design intent into detailed specifications, technical drawings, and production-ready documentation. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and manufacturing teams to ensure products are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with quality and performance expectations.
This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.
Technical Bag Designer Responsibilities
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical packs, specifications, and construction documentation for bag and carry product lines.
- Translate design concepts, sketches, and product ideas into detailed technical drawings and production-ready deliverables.
- Define materials, components, dimensions, construction methods, and functional requirements to support product development and manufacturing.
- Partner closely with product creation, development, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure design intent is accurately executed.
- Review prototypes and samples, identify construction or manufacturability concerns, and recommend technical solutions.
- Collaborate with factory partners to troubleshoot design, construction, and production challenges throughout the development process.
- Support the refinement and commercialization of existing concepts, including those generated through emerging technologies and AI-assisted design processes.
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, organized, and maintained throughout the product lifecycle.
- Provide technical expertise on bag construction, functionality, durability, and user-focused performance considerations.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in development processes, technical standards, and product quality.
Technical Bag Designer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in technical bag design, bag development, or a closely related product creation discipline.
- Proven experience creating detailed tech packs, technical specifications, and production documentation for bags or carry products.
- Strong portfolio showcasing technical drawings, construction details, and bag design projects, particularly utility-focused or performance-oriented products.
- Deep understanding of bag construction techniques, materials, hardware, patterning, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience collaborating directly with factories, suppliers, and cross-functional product development teams.
- Ability to evaluate prototypes, identify technical issues, and develop practical manufacturing solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced development environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Previous experience within the footwear, apparel, accessories, sporting goods, or consumer products industry is highly preferred.
Compensation: Up to $50/hr. (DOE)
