Controller
Our client is seeking a strategic, hands-on financial leader who can bring structure, insight, and accountability to a growing organization’s financial operations. This individual will combine strong technical accounting expertise with operational business acumen, serving as a trusted partner to executive leadership while leading day-to-day financial oversight. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and comfortable balancing high-level strategy with hands-on financial management in a fast-paced project-based environment.
This role is on-site in Clackamas, Oregon.
Controller Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial reporting, accounting operations, and month-end/year-end close processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and strong financial visibility.
- Develop financial forecasts, cash flow projections, KPI reporting, and actionable analysis to support executive decision-making and business growth.
- Lead and support the accounting team, establishing consistent workflows, internal controls, and financial best practices across the organization.
- Monitor project-based financial performance, including job costing, profitability analysis, labor allocation, overhead recovery, and financial risk identification.
- Partner with ownership, operational leaders, external advisors, lenders, and auditors to support compliance, budgeting, audits, and continuous process improvement.
Controller Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of controller-level or financial leadership experience, preferably within construction, contracting, or other project-based industries.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, and operational financial analysis.
- Experience leading or mentoring accounting staff, with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with leadership and operations teams.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems; experience with construction-focused financial platforms is highly preferred.
Salary: $90K-$100K/year. (DOE)
