Senior Manager, Special Projects, Clinical Research Advancement
Our client is seeking a Senior Manager, Special Projects to support strategic initiatives that advance clinical research operations, compliance, and workforce development across a complex healthcare and research environment. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor and program leader, driving process improvements, policy development, educational programming, and cross-functional initiatives that strengthen research infrastructure, enhance operational effectiveness, and promote an inclusive culture of scientific innovation. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in research administration, clinical research finance, compliance, and organizational change management, along with the ability to lead high-impact projects across multiple stakeholder groups.
This role is on-site in Boston, Massachusetts.
Senior Manager, Special Projects Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives to strengthen clinical research billing, financial compliance, operational workflows, and system integration across research programs.
- Evaluate existing research processes and technologies, identify improvement opportunities, and oversee implementation of enhanced workflows, controls, and audit mechanisms.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on research compliance matters, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, risk mitigation, policy development, and educational programming.
- Design, launch, and manage enterprise-wide projects that improve research operations, investigator support, career development, and organizational effectiveness.
- Develop and oversee training programs, workshops, and educational resources that support compliance, research administration, and professional development objectives.
- Collaborate with institutional leaders, research teams, compliance personnel, legal stakeholders, and operational departments to align strategic priorities and drive successful project execution.
- Establish and facilitate committees, workgroups, and governance structures focused on policy development, education, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the growth of investigator-led research programs through strategic planning, mentorship initiatives, resource coordination, and program development.
- Monitor evolving regulatory, reimbursement, and industry requirements and translate changes into actionable institutional policies, processes, and training.
- Mentor staff and emerging leaders while promoting a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing research culture.
Senior Manager, Special Projects Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Research Administration, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in research administration, clinical research operations, compliance, program management, or healthcare research leadership environments.
- Deep knowledge of clinical research billing, research finance, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks impacting sponsored research activities.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale process improvement, systems implementation, operational transformation, or strategic planning initiatives.
- Experience developing policies, educational programs, governance structures, and cross-functional operational frameworks.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders, facilitate collaboration, and drive results across diverse teams and organizational levels.
- Proven experience mentoring staff, supporting professional development, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and inclusion.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including policy writing, executive-level presentations, and educational content development.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to changing organizational needs, and successfully manage complex special projects.
- Professional certifications related to healthcare research compliance, coding, research administration, or project management are welcomed but not required.
Compensation: $28-$32/hr. (DOE)
