Payroll Specialist
Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely payroll processing in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and service-focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively while managing complex payroll requirements and competing priorities.
This role is on-site in Portland, Oregon.
Payroll Specialist Responsibilities
- Process and reconcile payroll transactions, ensuring accurate and timely completion prior to transmission and disbursement.
- Manage payroll activities for bargaining employees, including certified payroll, garnishments, employer-paid benefit taxation, manual checks, and stop payments.
- Process time and attendance data, payroll imports, new hire documentation, employment claims, and other recurring payroll-related transactions.
- Complete required compliance reporting, including certified payroll documentation, intents and affidavits, unclaimed payroll checks, and applicable monthly reporting.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, respond to employee and management inquiries, and prepare ad hoc financial and operational reports as needed.
Payroll Specialist Qualifications
- Previous payroll experience, with union, construction, and/or certified payroll experience highly preferred.
- Experience with Viewpoint or similar payroll software and timekeeping systems preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, reconciliations, garnishments, taxation, and related compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines while managing frequent interruptions and multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Salary: $60K-$65K/year. (DOE)
